Keeping to Traditions

I confess; I am a man of traditions. There is something comforting around traditions, creating a sense of family. Traditions are kind of like a secret handshake that only we know about, unless you blog about them that is....

Now that I have my own family, and it is growing, traditions is becoming even more important. Especially our 'Energy Recovery Process During Pregnancy' tradition. Feel free to use this if you are expecting, or if you simply need to rest a bit.

It all started when we decided to go to Iceland during the making of Miss Cupcake. It was a trip that was supposed to be an adventure around the exotic island, deep diving into the eclectic music scene, Bjork spotting and nature experiences, but ended up being 'Sleeping Fest 2009'. After a hectic couple of months, the slow tempo of the island, combined with the stunning scenery made our bodies go into hibernation mode, and we spent most time sleeping, napping or spending time in a horizontal position with our eyes closed breathing slowly. We promised to always go back to Iceland whenever we were expecting a baby.

There are a lot of reasons to why this time around we did not go back to Iceland. We simply decided to take an easier path; we re-named the tradition from being 'Going to Iceland' to 'Going to an Island'. Because the island of Maui in Hawaii has the same ingredients; very slow tempo, stunning scenery and a huge advantage to Iceland - you can take a bath. Horizontally obviously.
