The Mini-Vacation

People pays thousands of dollars to go to spas to be able to wake up with birds singing gently in their ears, have freshly squeezed orange juice, take walks in the mountains, get massages and revitalize. people with kids go to the bathroom.

This is what we get; mini-vacations. That moment when you can disconnect the brain from scanning for dangers just for a second at least. When you strap your kid in the car seat and walk around to the driver seat; those 10 meters, 15 second min-vacations where we breath, disconnect, listen to the birds if there happen to be one around, and then get back to the game.

This is why it is so wonderful to get across things that keep you child busy for 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes instead of 20 seconds - luxury! You can slip out of the room, and you have to get back in 10 minutes because the silence freaks you out. You are not sure if they are playing with the beads or choked on one.

Yes. We love necklace making. Keeps us sane. For 20 minutes at least.
