Sonoma County

We have lived in California more than two years now, and for all of you that plan to come and visit; please feel assured that you will have a lovely visit given that we our practically professional tourist guides with deep, detailed local knowledge of exactly 0.02% of California (no, that is not a typo). This translate to about four blocks around our house.

When you first come to San Francisco you feel like being literally at the end of the world, and to go anywhere, you have to sit in an aeroplane at least four hours. However there are lots of great places around the bay area; Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Las Vegas, and even Grand Canon is not that far away. We have not visited any of these ones. We do however control Emeryville, home of Ikea, to perfection.

However there is never a better moment than now to change. So this weekend we finally managed to drag ourselves to visit Sonoma. If you do not know what that is, you do not drink wine. Sonoma and Napa are the two big wine regions in northern California, and it is a perfect weekend escape for our family; wine, fresh air and historic landmarks of when the Spaniards came and burnt the place... I mean, fomented the local society. And wine. They even have the most well developed scale railroad in the Americas!
